Did someone say spay?

We offer FREE spay/neuter surgery for the public; take our Aloha Bus on the road for Free Feline Fix days and microchip your pets so you can find them if lost. Learn about boarding services, quarantine, our dog park, training classes, the seabird rescue program and education opportunities.
Be part of the solution and protect your pet’s health.
We offer free spay/neuter services Tuesday through Saturday at the shelter and gratefully accept donations to off-set the cost. We also provide free spay/neuter for those caring individuals feeding feral cats to prevent the birth of more homeless kittens. Visit kauaiferal.org to learn more about this valuable program.
To schedule your pet’s spay/neuter and I.D. appointment or to pick up a discount coupon for services with your private veterinarian, stop by or call 632-0610, ext. 100.
Animal pick-up and drop off services are available by request for those unable to drive.
Why spay/neuter?
· Spaying or neutering your pet virtually eliminates the chance of breast or prostate cancer when they get older.
· Pets will be less likely to roam and will stay home.
· Most important, they won’t produce more homeless pets.
We’ll even come to your neighborhood

For the third year our mobile spay and neuter clinic is traveling island-wide to offer free spay and neuter for cats from February to September.
Cats begin to reproduce as young as five months-old and have an average of 15 kittens a year. The only remedy for pet overpopulation on Kaua’i is community involvement. Spay or neuter surgery is free, but we ask the cat caretaker to purchase a $6 identification microchip to be implanted in the cat as part of the program.
Feral cats in your neighborhood can be trapped for the mobile spay/neuter program. Up to three humane cat traps per person can be loaned, with a deposit, for the weekend prior to the mobile van clinics arrival to the neighborhood. Cat must be contained in a carrier or humane trap. As demand for the service increases, we hope to add more days to our schedule. The final Feline Fix day is Sept. 21 at Ching Young Village. For more information, 632-0610, ext. 100.
Funding for this program is provided by a grant from the Kauai County Council and private donations from caring community members. On behalf of the animals, thank you.
What is a Microchip?

A microchip is a permanent form of identification and never falls off. It is a small glass bead about the size of a rice grain and is safely and easily inserted underneath the skin between the pet’s shoulders.
As long as your current address and phone number are registered with the Kauai Humane Society, your pet can be quickly and safely returned home if ever lost. The one-time cost of $6 provides a lifetime of protection.
The state dog license law establishes dog ownership and has been in effect in Hawaii for over 100 years. The cost is $2.10 every two years.
Hundreds of pets are lost monthly on Kauai and many are never reclaimed by their owners. Providing I.D. will help insure a safe trip home for your beloved pet.
Kauai Humane Society partners with the local veterinary community to increase the number of animals identified and sterilized. By working together, we hope to significantly reduce the number of homeless and lost pets on Kauai. Discount coupons are available that reduce the cost of the surgery and encourage pet owners to help reduce the number of homeless pets on Kauai.
- $60 discount for female dogs 50 lbs. or larger
- $40 discount for smaller female dogs, male dogs, and female cats
- $20 discount for male cats
All pets must be microchipped at a cost of $6 and all dogs must be licensed at a cost of $2.10 to participate in this program.
