Tours
Bring your class, your after-school groups, your adult groups, Boy and Girl Scout troop for an exciting tour of our facility in Puhi. Animal interaction is the hallmark of these tours. We often work with groups on various community service projects.
Classroom Presentations
Can’t bring your students to us? We can bring our humane lessons to you! We can bring our humane and character education lessons to your educational setting! It’s free, so take advantage of this great resource today. Click on this link to access a list of available programs.
Critter Camps
Spend a week during school breaks and summer vacation learning about and interacting with our animals. It’s a lot of fun! Look on our events calendar for the next camp. Registration forms can be obtained at our shelter or on the website a month before the camp.
Community Speakers
Would your club or group like to hear about the work of the humane society? We have excellent speakers willing to come out and share our work with you. These presentations are interesting and interactive. Use this link for a list of programs.
Service Learning Projects
Would you like your group or students to be involved with a service learning project? This enables participants to help the humane society fulfill its mission while learning a job skill and preparing for real life. Painting, cleaning, walking dogs, and office work are just some of the options.

Junior Volunteers
Our Junior Volunteer program involves youth of ages 10-13 in the work of the shelter. We meet one Saturday a month and the young people get to know the animals and do many things to make their lives better. This is a great way to meet other young people who love animals.
Birthday Parties
Be a “party animal” and celebrate your birthday at the Kaua’i Humane Society. Parties are celebrated with a humane society educator and include animal interactions, a tour of the building, fun games, and special party favors.
Lessons and Books “To Go”
For teachers, home-schooling parents, and others, we have some lesson packets and kits for teaching centered around animal care, books about pets, and other issues.
We also loan out book bags with 20 books on animals for different grade levels.
If you are working on a special unit related to animals, we will help by providing resources or lessons at no cost.
Humane Education Art Contest
In February of every year, we hold an art contest on a theme related to animal welfare. Students have until April to submit their artwork, and a panel of judges selects 20 winners, whose work is made into note cards used by the humane society for their correspondence. The winners’ work is displayed in the classroom at the humane society.
Information Booths
We will come to your community event, career days, fairs, carnivals, or festivals and set up our informational booth and give out freebies and information. We will even provide activities for the kids, such as coloring pages, games and face painting.
For information on these programs, call Mele at 632-0610, ext. 103 or at 634-8837.
